Experience

Attorney Alex Washington was born in 1970, in Flint, Michigan. He lived in Natchitoches Louisiana and graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1989. Alex obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Northwestern State University in 1994 and his Juris Doctor in 1999 from Southern University Law School. He was a member of the “Moot Court” Board. He represented Southern Law School in a National Moot Court competition. He was the winner of “Best Brief” writer in Law school. Alex served as a clerk for the Attorney General’s office for two years while in Law school.

Attorney Washington is the managing Partner for The Washington Law Firm, the former Partner in the Washington and Wells Law Firm. He serves as the City of Attorney for the City of Natchitoches and the Town Attorney for the Village of Natchez, special counsel for the City of Shreveport and Attorney for Grambling University Foundation. He is a former Assistant District Attorney for Caddo and former Assistant Parish Attorney for the Caddo Parish Commission. Prior to serving as Assistant Parish Attorney, he was a criminal defense lawyer in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for the Indigent Defender’s Office. He has served in the capacity of Municipal Bond Counsel for the City of Shreveport, Shreveport-Bossier Port Commission, City of Mansfield, City of Natchitoches, and St. Gabriel. Additionally, he currently serve as hearing officer for the Town of Marksville and formerly served as Ad Hoc Judge Pro Tempore in Shreveport City Court.

Alex is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts, all Texas State Courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, and United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He has been active in the community and has served as First African American President of the Federal Bar Association in North Louisiana, President of the Black Lawyers Association of Shreveport/Bossier and is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. Alex is a member of the Louisiana State and Shreveport Bar Association, former member of the Federal Bar Association, Black Lawyers Association of Shreveport/Bossier, Board member on the Northwestern State University of Louisiana Foundation and a former associate member of Harry V. Booth American Inns of Court.

He has been voted one of the top attorneys in North Louisiana for over a decade in SB Magazine. He was able to gain a “not guilty” verdict in the murder Trial and nationally recognize case of Rapper Hurricane Chris in Louisiana.

Additionally, he was able to gain a “not guilty” verdict in San Antonio Texas where Davante Snowden an alleged gang member was falsely accused of having a weapon when an officer shot and killed an unarmed kid, Charles “Chop” Roundtree, in 2019. The case was recognized in Black Lives Matter marches in San Antonio Texas.

Attorney Alex Washington is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a Prince Hall Mason. He is married to Tonya R. Washington and has three children Alexis Washington, Adam Washington, and Attorney Alex Washington III.

Shante’ Y. R. Wells, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. Shante’ attended Captain Shreve High School, where he served as Senior Class Vice President, Sergeant at Arms of the Black Studies Association, and holds the distinction of being the first African American to be elected by the student body to serve as Al E. Gator, the school’s Mascot. He graduated from Captain Shreve in 1992 and enrolled in Xavier University of Louisiana in fall of the same year.

While a student at Xavier, Shante’ was a unanimous selection to represent Xavier at the National Conference of Black Political Scientists held in Baltimore Maryland, in 1995. On May 10, 1997, Shante’ received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a minor in Public Administration.

In the fall of 1997 began his studies at Southern University Law Center. Shante’, a member of the Law Center’s Class of 2000, served as co-chair of the Graduation Committee and was one of four students selected to represent the Law Center at the American Trial Lawyers Association trial competition held in Austin, Texas in the spring of 2000. During law school, he also served as a Law Clerk at the Department of Public Safety and Corrections Legal Division.

Shante’ was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2001. From 2000 to 2002 he served as a law clerk to Judges John Mosley and Michael Walker, Shreveport City Prosecutor from 2002 until 2004, and opened the Law Offices of Washington and Wells along with law partner Alex Washington (c/o 1999) in 2003.

Since being admitted to the bar Shante’ has been active in many local and state organizations. He is a member of the Shreveport Bar Association, the Black Lawyer’s Association of Shreveport/Bossier where he is the Immediate Past President, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the National Bar Association. He has served as a past member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of North Louisiana, the Harry V. Booth Inns of Court, and the Shreveport Municipal Police/Fireman Civil Service Board.

Shante devotes his practice to Criminal Defense, Personal Injury and Municipal Bond Law. He presently sits on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and is listed in the Municipal Marketplace Directory, “the Red Book”. Washington and Wells has served as Bond Counsel on numerous transactions for the City of Shreveport as well as the Port of Caddo/Bossier.

Shante’ cites Vice-Chancellor Russell Jones, Judge John Mosely and Thurgood Marshall as his biggest professional influences. Shante is the father of three beautiful children, Kennedy age 13, Sydnee age 12, and Shante’, II, who is 4 years old.
